I had a lovely stay at James' Place At Brynawel. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, making for a comfortable experience. I appreciated the helpful recommendations for local restaurants and hiking. However, the kitchen was a bit limited in space, and there were a few minor inconveniences with the shower. Overall, it was a nice getaway, despite some room for improvement.

Rooms
9.0
The room was well decorated, clean, and tidy upon arrival, which enhanced my stay.
Service
9.0
James provided excellent communication and was attentive throughout my visit.
Location
9.0
The property is conveniently located, allowing easy access to the Brecon Beacons and local attractions.
Dining

Dining options weren't available on-site, encouraging me to explore nearby restaurants as recommended.
Facilities

The smaller kitchen was equipped but could use more space and storage for a self-catering experience.

I had a lovely time at James' Place At Brynawel. The room was nicely decorated and clean, which made my stay comfortable. Although there were a couple of hiccups with the door and the bed's comfort, I enjoyed the location's proximity to Pen Y Fan and appreciated the helpful local tips from the hosts. Overall, it was a good experience but could use a few improvements.

Rooms
8.0
The room was well decorated, clean, and presented nicely, but the bed was quite uncomfortable and low, which affected my sleep.
Service
7.0
James was an understanding host who provided great local recommendations, but there were issues with communication about the self-catering setup.
Location
8.0
The location was fantastic for accessing Pen Y Fan and other nature trails, though there wasn't much to do in Merthyr itself.
Dining
7.0
While I appreciated the self-catering aspect, it would have been nice to have some labels on the recycling bins and clearer kitchen instructions.
Facilities
6.0
The overall facilities were decent, but the shower was underwhelming and the towels weren't changed during my stay.

I had a mixed experience at James' Place At Brynawel. The location was excellent for accessing the Brecon Beacons, and the room was beautifully decorated and clean. However, I faced issues with uncomfortable bedding, limited kitchen facilities, and the lack of in-house dining options. With a few improvements, I believe this place could elevate its appeal considerably.

Rooms
5.0
The room was elegantly decorated and spotlessly clean, but the bed was extremely uncomfortable, lowering my overall comfort during the stay.
Service
6.0
I appreciated the good communication from the hosts and their recommendations for local restaurants, but I found the amount of communication overwhelming and excessive.
Location
9.0
The property’s location was fantastic, close to the Pen Y Fan trail and offering great views of the town and mountains, making it an excellent base for outdoor activities.
Dining
5.0
Being a self-catering facility, the lack of kitchen information made it inconvenient, and dining options were only available in town which limited my choices.
Facilities
5.0
The kitchen was too small and not very well-equipped for cooking substantial meals, while my shower experience left a lot to be desired.

My stay at James' Place at Brynawel was a mix of highs and lows. The room was well-decorated and clean, and I appreciated the good communication from the host about local attractions. However, I encountered some issues, like an uncomfortable bed and trouble accessing the main door. Overall, I've had better experiences, but there’s potential for improvement.

Rooms
6.0
The room and bathroom were very clean and elegantly decorated. However, the bed was uncomfortable and there wasn’t enough storage for clothing.
Service
8.0
James provided excellent communication and local recommendations, and the extra Welsh cakes were a delightful touch. Just a bit more attention to guest needs could elevate the service.
Location
7.0
The location is great for accessing the Brecon Beacons. but finding the place was confusing due to the scaffolding covering the house name.
Dining
6.0
This is a self-catered accommodation, so dining options need to be sought out. It wasn't clear that breakfast isn't provided, which would have been helpful.
Facilities
5.0
The shower facilities could be improved as it felt more like a mist than a shower. Also, the lack of a kitchen area was a downside.

I had a mixed experience at James' Place At Brynawel. On the positive side, the rooms were clean and beautifully decorated, which made for a pleasant stay. However, I faced several issues, such as an uncomfortable bed, unclear self-catering arrangements, and a lack of communication with the owners after the initial greeting. Overall, I appreciated the location and the cleanliness but felt the service could improve significantly.

Rooms
5.0
The room and bathroom were both very clean and elegantly decorated, though the bed was extremely uncomfortable and low with a poor mattress.
Service
5.0
After checking in, I didn't see the owners again, which made the stay feel less personal, and I felt there was a lack of guidance despite the potential for better communication.
Location
8.0
The house is in a nice area, reasonably close to Merthyr Tydfil town center and ideal for exploring the Brecon Beacons.
Dining
5.0
The accommodation was self-catering, but it was confusing to find the kitchen area, and I would have preferred dining options available on-site.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities included a shower which was disappointing, and towels were never replaced during my three-night stay, but the overall ambiance was appealing.
